The Technology :

Triple wavelength diode lasers offering 755nm, 810nm, and 1064nm are sophisticated devices primarily used for laser hair removal. They are made up of several key components that work together to produce and deliver these specific wavelengths of light.

Key Components and How They Work

Diode Laser Bars/Modules:

The core of these lasers consists of semiconductor diode laser bars or modules. A diode laser is essentially a p-n semiconductor junction. When a forward electrical current is applied, electrons and holes recombine in the semiconductor material, releasing photons and generating coherent light.

To achieve multiple wavelengths, these systems typically incorporate:

  • Multiple semiconductor materials: Different semiconductor materials have specific energy band gaps that determine the wavelength of light they emit. For instance:

    • 755nm (Alexandrite-like): This wavelength is often generated by specific gallium arsenide (GaAs) based alloys or specialized diode designs that mimic the absorption characteristics of an Alexandrite laser. It's highly absorbed by melanin, making it effective for lighter skin types and fine, light-colored hair.

    • 810nm (Diode): This is the "gold standard" diode laser wavelength, usually produced by GaAs-based semiconductor materials. It offers good melanin absorption with deeper penetration, suitable for a wide range of skin and hair types.

    • 1064nm (Nd:YAG-like): This longer wavelength is typically generated by a different semiconductor material or a specific diode configuration that provides deeper penetration and lower melanin absorption, making it safer and more effective for darker skin types and deeply embedded hair.

Working Principle :

“Dhanush” by beagle lasers is a triple wavelength diode hair removal laser which delivers 3 wavelengths of light in a single pulse and pulse duration to a specific target.

It works on principle of selective photo-thermolysis. 

The energy of the laser is preferentially absorbed by the melanin in the hair, effectively destroying the hair follicle and hair shaft without injury to the surrounding tissues.

With each ongoing treatment, the actively growing hair follicle is destroyed so that the hair loss regeneration ability and the new growth is delayed and slowed down.  

With each treatment, hair turns lighter and thinner and its depth is reduced. The melanin pigment is reduced. To maintain the efficiency with subsequent treatments, triple - wavelength is used.

With the use of 3 different wavelengths in each pulse helps to accumulate the energy at different layers. Shorter wavelengths are warmer and that helps to treat lightly pigmented hair which is seen with the subsequent treatments.

The User Interface :

Dhanussh uses an intelligent user interface, it is simple and easy to use. The user interface offers three modes of operation :

  • SHR Mode - It is mainly configured with auto calibrations for treating larger body areas like Hands, Legs, Back, Thighs, Chest, Abdomen, etc. 

  • HR Mode - It is mainly configured for the treatment of more delicate and sensitive areas like the face, peri ocular, pre-auricular, ears, nose, eyebrows, pubic area, and vulvar areas. It offers ease of calibration and safety settings by the operator before starting the treatments. The speed is restricted and more flexibility in choosing between pulse-by-pulse operation or slow-in-motion technique. 

  • Staking Mode - It is designed to be used by physicians and nurses who are dealing with specific conditions like growing hair, hair situated at most abnormal locations, and highly stubborn cases of hirsutism, etc.

The Handle : The lightest weight handle in the Industry

Dhanussh offers one of the lightest weight delivery handle which is  ergonomically designed to minimise  operator fatigue. 20Hz speed, light weight handle, lengthy cable allows easy movement for treating larger body areas and helps to complete full body  treatment in and around  90 minutes.

The Cooling System : Uninterrupted Cooling throughout the treatment

Given the high power output of these lasers, an efficient cooling system is crucial for both patient comfort and device longevity. Common cooling methods include:

  • Contact cooling: A sapphire tip or other cooled surface on the handpiece that directly cools the skin during treatment.

  • Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC) / Peltier elements: These are solid-state devices that transfer heat, helping to maintain a consistent low temperature at the skin's surface and within the laser module itself.

  • Water cooling and air cooling: Integrated systems within the main unit to dissipate heat generated by the laser diodes and power supply
